A Smudge to Compensate for the Differences

Both the spiral and the yin yang signs are an integral part of history and of the human psyche. Essentially, both signs appear to have connections to trance, memory, reflection and writing in terms of their associations with one another.

Spirals are knit with the reflection because of its natural occurrence that the mind closely relates as something abstract, and that both come in the mind as a circular manner of thinking. However, spirals are more closely related to trance because of the equilibrium which symbolizes both. Additionally, memory also is a branch of the spiral because of its free flowing instances and connections that spiral in and out. Spirals, as a kid were much more of a treat especially when it comes Christmas time- the candies. Spiraling like a dream of spirals, candy canes and the flat circular candies that had green and red spirals made me ecstatic every time I taste them, but also made me awake in the wee hours of the morning because of toothaches, thinking if I were still to live another day because of the pain. The regular spiral is seen to be calm and peaceful but I see it as a lie. Spirals come out of nature to torture people as a tornado, as a whirlwind to destroy homes and lives of innocent people. It is used as a hypnotic agent by calming people, putting to a state of ordered calm and mends the problems that hound both unconscious and conscious.

The Yin Yang symbol, a symbol of balance, is also an element of writing and reflection: writing needs balance in order to be fair and to be simple, while reflection is on itself a balance of opposites, one reflecting the other. Yin Yang as a kid meant Karate, ninja or other martial arts that come from the east, needing balance; each hero has had to have balance inside of him.

Symbols play a significant role in our lives, if we must create new ones, we must be careful enough not to step on tradition and culture, and also not to create confusion with images that have multiple denotations or connotations that have been related to wrongdoings or calamities that mat still have a stigma like the Swastika of concentration

Completely Inside of Me

After clasping my time in the elevator, I found myself free after it opened up its doors. I was overjoyed and ecstatic seeing my past again, waiting for moments to pass by, and not worrying about the rush of daily life.

Splashing the space in my head was the color of purity: white. I was in an airplane on flight. I felt like a hero, proud above anyone else, like a bird with a bird’s eye view. I was beside the clouds, like a child loving sweet cotton candy. I felt being cuddled and hugged, stable as a stuffed toy; the feeling of courage, understanding, love and loneliness within me. I felt clean, as neat as the best students in grade school, and as regulated as strict parents. I realized that I was on an airplane on the way to the sea. It was summer vacation and I was to visit our house along the sandy beach.

The color blue was spluttered in me. It felt like drinking water, but I wasn’t drinking, I was drowning with a glass of water and even worse was that I was enjoying the sensation of it. It was peaceful; it felt like holding the Philippine flag: courage and power amidst disarray. The feeling of conformity was blue with the feeling of the uniformity of a pause, a hail to the kings to bow down, and thinking as freely to be the same. It was the sea, full of friendly fishes and their predators. I was swimming: diving, fluttering around the beach that had a strong sense of vacation paradise.

Going back and traversing through, entanglement is what people have a lot to deal with. They need to disentangle in order to smoothen their past and go unto the plains of the unstoppable present.

Reminiscing the past is an awfully exciting way to get back into action, gathering strength and experience through past actions. However, not all memories lead towards the strengthening of one person due to different human psychology and background, placing others into a different light, in which we should all understand and help out.

Sleeping and Dreaming

Doing Two Things at the Same Time?

Sweat dripping, shirt crumpled, posture unattended, eyes popping, and mind in chaos- a description of me after commuting from school to our home: a total zombie. Even “an orgy” wouldn’t be able to help me out of my grogginess after living my eight hour school day. After keeping my school equipment and dressing as a housemate, I see my bed magnified to a hundredth degree that even though I’m not in my room, I could see it engulf parts of our house as if it were a tsunami. Nonetheless, after struggling to survive this world awake, we are in an appeased mood to loosen up and forget our struggles for even a short worth while nap. It is the nap that would salvage us from all our past, present and future wrongdoings during our unconscious state. It is a salvation that leads to self pleasure- the pleasure that we all look for in our disastrous lives.

During sleep, we think of ourselves as safe from the destructive forces of our actions, but at the same time we become a mindless society that thinks only of self preservation and not of societal help.

We become “mature intelligent passionate adults whose life were unwretched” (Le Guin 3) during our vacation from the real world that needs us in order to be whole. In our sleep, we create a depiction of human greed in the search for pleasure of oneself that we sacrifice other people for our greed. As we escape our fears, our helplessness in our sleep, we forget the persons who need our help, the people whose lies circle upon us.

Why would someone run away from the real world to sleep and from sleep? Is it the realization that they have to do something for themselves, or for other people? Isn’t it that “only pain is intellectual, only evil is interesting” (Le Guin 3) in this present world of ours?

We are in control in our own point of view, and with that we see our own Omelas that we walk away from. We live in a world not without opposites, no world that exists with direct proportion and without inverse proportion, and therefore there is no impossibility that each other person’s Omelas may be each other person’s place that each has went to from walking away from their own. Therefore, let us be vigilant and help each other recover from deciding whether to stay or walk away from our Omelas

Unsettling Mind

Silence has been brought about by the very oppression of the mind full of thoughts that bring us to the tyranny of our very existence here on earth. Silence is the corruption of the human’s true expression: speech/noise.

Oppression of the human state of noise which leads to silence brings about different entities to the human trail of thought. “Rumors, unfair criticisms, comments and downright falsehoods” are some of the direct effects of speech oppression. (Cooray 6.1) Therefore, the freedom to make noise shouldn’t be restricted by all means, rather make it known that freedom to speech, like all freedoms, is never absolute.

Another major effect that we encounter with the oppression of speech is the unsettling state of mind. Truly, a person’s unsettled mind is a product of the copulation of the conscious and the subconscious mind. Without further addition, every thought the conscious thinks goes to the processing of the unconscious and vice versa.

The grapple of the unconscious against the conscious mind in the film is incomprehensively real. It is with the control over the present situation relies heavily upon the conscious and the subconscious mind, that it dictates whether you do this, or you do that, or not to do anything. Tyler Durden brings about Jack’s deeply hidden desires as he is the one doing things for Jack, that as first, Jack didn’t know was that he was doing it by himself and, that the things that have been done came from no other person’s head but his.

Scared of the thought of retribution about keeping people silent, my mom and I, as the second family of my father, already don’t mind if relatives of my father talk point blank about his other family. Even as a child, I have already known, I have already encountered the very essence of being talked about by people as if I wasn’t there. What could I do? I was just a small boy. Even though my parents were married legally, the relatives of my father didn’t want it to happen because that they were thinking about the kids’ future. My mom didn’t really think about it because love was the bond that brought my parents to where they were and that no one should ever break it especially if the problem was to be remedied easily as such that funds can be drawn out of the kids’ mom’s savings for their future and that even though married, she still does let my father be with his children anytime they wanted to be with each other. However, sometimes I get full of their talking about the other family, that I cry at night, thinking about what those relatives were thinking about, talking about the other people even in our presence. I don’t think it’s even right to talk about his first wife, but talking about it in front of us is just plain mockery of our beings, that we don’t have the right to be there, to be his new family.

Having gone towards pounding pain, heartbreaking thoughts and sleepless nights, all but one can say is that freedom is never absolute and should never be, in order to maintain order and peace to shield our very existence from the chaos that also makes the essence of our lives: freedom of speech.

Cooray, Doctor Mark. “Human Rights in Australia” 12 May 2004. Our Civilisation. 1 march 2006. .

The Card Game

<> Context

Problem

Resolution <>

Coral Net [Enchant Creature]

Pegasus Charger [Summon Pegasus]

Abandon Hope [Sorcery]

The feeling of the near failing. Failing to achieve good grades, sacrificing time for other things less or more important.

The fight/struggle in which I am in charge. Doing all that I can do to stave away every difficulty that is arising.

When problems come continuously, even mythological characters grow tired of fending off humongous mounts of problems and then give up.

The people are side by side but are sad because of problems.

The Pegasus is scary. It shows a lot of all out force to eliminate/stop the infestation of enemies.

Problems are hard to fend out that in the end, when all has been given, all would be lost…But, as anyone can say, not all can be lost.
